Today is my mother’s birthday. I wanted to write a little something as part of my present to her.
My mother is the best. I know what your thinking… “Well, my mother is the best, too!”
But for real, my mother rocks.
When I was younger, I didn’t really understand it all. We would bicker a lot, I would get annoyed easily. But as I grew older and more mature, I realized that I needed my mother more than ever before.
I would call her to ask for advice, for some of her recipes, for craft ideas, for gift ideas. I would ask her to come shopping with me to find the perfect suit, the perfect bridal shower dress, the perfect wedding dress. She was there to send me off to college, she was there on graduation day. She was there when I moved in to my <many> different apartments in Long Beach, always tidying up the place, painting the walls, and going to pick out comforters. She was there when I moved out for the very last time. She has been there for me through the darkest of times and through the brightest of times. She has seen me at my worst and at my best. She loves me in spite of it all.
Her compassion, positivity, and motivation is the driving force behind her success. She is a staple in her community; always volunteering, planning, helping in any way possible. She has an infectious glow about her, a smile, a laugh…that makes any bad day go away. Her motto: Life is good! can be seen on her daily Facebook status updates. She truly believes that life IS good, that you should look on the bright side of things, and keep a positive attitude.
I am lucky to have such an amazing mother and I hope that one day, when it’s my time to become a mother, I am exactly like her. I love you, Mom!
