To Do List

Making lists. One of my favorite activities. I make lists all the time: grocery lists, to-do lists, shopping lists, packing lists… you name it, I probably have put it on a list.

I carefully craft my lists and put everything on it. And by everything, I mean: eat breakfast, take a shower, do laundry, etc.

Ya know, just in case I forget to shower after hot yoga one day.

I will even write down things that I have already done that day, JUST so I can cross it off. I feel like I am not the only one who does this, but my friends and husband make fun of me.

“You already ate breakfast, did you need to write that down?”

Yes. Yes, I do. 

I know it sounds ludicrous, but I feel a sense of accomplishment when I cross the items off the list… regardless if I already completed the task or not.

If I don’t write it down, I could forget it. Like the time I forgot to bring flip-flops on a beach vacation. Or the countless times I walk into the grocery store, do a full grocery shop, and get home to realize I forgot to buy paper plates. #putitonthelist

My friends have gotten their hands on a list or two of mine over the years. They would add their own “to-do” items. And you can imagine what type of “things” they would add. My matron of honor even polled my bridesmaids about items that should be included on a list for my new husband and included it in her speech at my wedding.

What happens if I don’t make a list?

I’m pretty sure I would be hanging out, starving, watching Netflix, in my sweaty yoga pants.
