Digital Detours: Montauk Edition

Over the summer, my husband and I took our annual trip to Montauk, New York. It’s seriously my favorite place on earth. I don’t know what it is about the town; maybe it’s the ocean breeze, the laid back attitude, or the amazing food and drinks, but I always look forward to our time out there.

Water Mill

I take this photo every single time we go out to Montauk. It’s about an hour west of Montauk, but I know that we are getting closer to “The End”.

Montauk Yacht Club

This year, we chose to stay at the Montauk Yacht Club, which is a little further north of town. Although a touch more expensive than the motels found in the actual town, we were so happy we chose to stay here.

Montauk Yacht Club - Bungalow View

We had a bungalow overlooking the courtyard and the bar/pool. At night, they set up fire pits all around the property, and it was so peaceful and quiet. It was such a relaxing stay and I look forward to returning next summer.

Scarpetta Montauk

Our first night, we dined at Scarpetta, which is located at Gurneys Inn. Our favorite dish? The Short Rib and Bone Marrow Agnolotti. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The view wasn’t so bad either.

Soul Cycle Montauk

Friday morning was super nasty outside, so I decided to try out a class at Soul Cycle Montauk studio. I inadvertently chose a front, sidebar bike and now I can’t go back! I loved riding up front, it pushed me in ways I wasn’t expecting. Selena Watkins was the instructor and she absolutely crushed it that rainy, Friday morning. No wonder she became Women’s Fitness Next Fitness Star!

Montauk Beach

Saturday was absolutely gorgeous and we took full advantage of the beautiful weather. We packed up early and headed down to Montauk Beach where we enjoyed some sun and surf.

Just me and my handsome husband, enjoying some beach time.

Montauk Lighthouse

When our friends decided to make a day trip out to Montauk, we wanted to show them all the good tourist spots. You can’t come all the way out to Montauk and not hit up the Lighthouse! Especially since it’s “The End” of Long Island.

Gig Shack - Montauk

After walking around town, we decided on a late lunch/early dinner at 668 The Gig Shack, located right on the main strip. The Spicy Tuna Tartare Taquitos were unreal; I could probably eat them every single day. The food was fresh and delicious and the drinks were fantastic. It was nice of our friends to make the trip out and we had a really great day with them.

Another fantastic Montauk trip in the books; this was probably the best one yet.

  • So happy you had a wonderful time! I’ve never been to that area, but it looks gorgeous!

    • Kristine

Thanks! It was gorgeous! It’s my happy place!

    • Thanks! It’s such a magical place! Thank you for stopping by!

  • This trip looked awesome, Kristine! Just last week, my husband asked if we wanted to do a trip, just the two of us sans kiddos. Of course, I said yes. Since we live in Tampa, I was thinking a quick flight like Charleston or New Orleans. Now you got me thinking Montauk. My friends who lived in New York City used to go there on their weekend getaways. Now I see why. Is that place seasonal, or is it good generally all year? When do the crowds start to die off, and where is the nearest airport. The Yacht Club hotel where you stayed looked nice and quaint. Cheers to getaways!

    • Such a relaxing place to visit! When are you thinking about traveling? I don’t know how it is in the winter – I’ve only visited during June, July and September. It is definitely busier mid-summer, but the shoulder seasons are really nice out there. I went last September and it was perfect! The Montauk Yacht Club was fantastic; but it is not directly in town so you would have to either take a cab or drive back and forth. I’ve always wanted to go to Savannah or Charleston, but thinking about maybe a weekend in Boston this fall. Let me know where you pick! Cheers!
