When I was younger, I would watch my mother as she ran around the house the day of a holiday party, making sure the smallest details were perfect. Sometimes chaotic, the end result was always worth it. Everyone who attended had a drink in their hand, an appetizer on their plate and a smile on their face. My mother worked hard to create these great gatherings, and it was nice to see it all come together.
My mother taught me everything there is to know about planning an event. She has two huge shelves in her garage dedicated to party planning.
Do you need a basket for bread? She has twelve.
Do you need Hawaiian themed napkins? She has a handful.
Do you need ribbon for the favor bags? She has spools and spools of them.
My mother also waitressed for various catering companies. She started her own waitress service and I started working with her when I was 16 years old. I worked big weddings, beautiful holiday parties at famous mansions, small, quaint cocktail parties, kids’ birthday parties, and the like. I learned everything that I needed to know about how to execute the perfect party.
A little background about me…
I have always enjoyed organizing and hosting events. I have successfully thrown myself birthday parties for as long as I can remember. I planned my entire wedding (with some help from my husband). My husband and I host dinners, holidays, birthdays, BBQ’s, etc. at our house all the time. I coordinate all types of events for my company – from seminars to cocktail parties to intimate dinners.
And I love it every single aspect of it.
