My best friend just started to plan her wedding and she has been asking me a ton of questions. As I listen to her talk about her plans, I instantly get that overwhelmed feeling all over again. There are a million questions that need to be answered!
I remember all the big-ticket items that you must take care of right away. But after talking to her about DJ’s and photographers and flowers and photo booths, I realized I was missing the most important item: the wedding stationary!
1 // Save-the-Dates
These items aren’t necessary, but you will want the majority of your guests to mark their calendars for your big day well in advance. You will be giving your reception venue a minimum amount of attending guests, and if you fall short, you will be paying for the difference.
Don’t forget, at least 20% of your guests will decline your invitation. Sounds crazy, right? When I was planning our wedding, I thought there was no way all those people would say no. But sure enough, the “no” responses starting dripping into the response card pile. I was shocked.
Send the save-the-dates out as soon as you have your logistics set, and you will likely meet your venue minimum.
2 // Wedding Invitations
Clearly, these are the most important pieces of your wedding planning. This part can get stressful because you are dealing with a lot of important information. One must proofread the wording on the invitation, reception card, church directions, hotel information, guest’s names and addresses. You don’t want to mess this portion up.
But is there a website that will help me through this stressful process, you ask? Lucky for you, I found a website that will make this process a piece of cake.
My best friend Melanie used Minted for all of her wedding needs: wedding invitations, return address labels, bridal shower invitations. She also used the site for her sister’s wedding shower. She raves about this website and I can tell you first hand that they did a fantastic job.
Minted has a gorgeous selection of handmade wedding invitations for 2015. If you have never heard about Minted, it’s about time you did. I only wish I knew about this site earlier! The website is an online marketplace of independent designers and has hundreds of designs to choose from. I can’t get enough of this site and if you are a bride-to-be, this is a one-stop shop for all things wedding related! (They even have an art marketplace which has tons of prints! This would make a fantastic gift for the parents! More on that subject another day.)
3 // Return Address Labels
I never thought these would be important, but if you want your wedding stationery to look a certain way, this is a must-have. I created different return labels for my save-the-dates, my bridal shower and my wedding thank you cards. I know what your saying, “Such a waste; I need to save money!” But I’m telling you; no one wants to handwrite 250 return addresses. Keep it seamless and neat.
Wedding planning can get chaotic, but if you are organized and efficient, you will have nothing to worry about!
Where do you usually shop for stationary? Online? In-Store?
