Over the weekend, I stopped by Island Bark in Island Park, New York to check out the brand new doggy daycare! Two of our best friends, Melanie and Jared, opened up this gorgeous doggy daycare and boarding place last week!
The south shore of Long Island needed a place like this and I’m so happy my friends decided to pursue their dreams and open one up! Now Bentley and Lambo have a place to go and play! (Lambo’s shots need some updating so they didn’t accompany me on this visit.)
Upon arrival, I was greeted by Archie, a lovable and friendly dog that Jared and Melanie rescued back in 2007. (He is also the Island Bark tour guide.) After a couple of wet kisses and a backrub, I checked out the lobby.
Toys, treats, and food, along with kitschy dog decor, adorned the beautiful, bright room. The owners really put a lot of thought into the most intricate details.
Jared and Melanie have a serious love for animals, especially dogs and cats. They have owned dogs before, but once they rescued Archie in 2007, their lives changed forever. They decided to take their passion for dogs and channel it into a brand new business. After volunteering at numerous shelters and owning their own pets, they designed a space that provides a fun, safe and comfortable environment for all floppy eared guests.
Island Bark offers doggy daycare, cage-less dog boarding and grooming. Their dog-loving staff is trained in CPR and First Aid. They also are on site 24 hours a day. The building boasts 3,600 square feet of indoor space and 3,000 square feet of outdoor. Plenty of space for your dog to run his or her little heart out! The clean and comfortable atmosphere is ideal all types of friendly dogs.
Last year, I wrote about how important it is to give your dog daily exercise. With this crazy weather, a place like Island Bark is the perfect solution – your dog will not only receive a full day of exercise, but they will interact and socialize with other pups. You can watch this all go down on their webcams!
Island Bark has a variety of packages available. They also offer dog training classes. Check out their website for the official price guide.
Best part? The first day of daycare is FREE! On this day, they will evaluate your dog to make sure they are a good fit for the daycare. They need at least 3 hours without mommy or daddy present to monitor the dog and see how well he or she adapts to Island Bark. (Please bring copies of all vaccines: Distemper/Parvo, Bordatella, Rabies)
So what are you waiting for? Head over to 30A Alabama Road in Island Park and check out Island Bark today. When you drop your dog off for daycare, say hi to Archie for me.
